Trainee Carpet Fitter 

                                            
Your primary responsibility will be to assist a senior fitter in all aspects of the preparation and installation of carpets and floorings. You will be working in a team environment.

You will also be expected to undertake training, both formal and informal, as it becomes available, with a view to reaching a level of technical competence which will enable you to work unsupervised.

Because of the nature of the work we do, there may be occasions when early / late or weekend working is required. We try to keep these to a minimum but some flexibility is an essential part of installation work.

This is a responsible position which involves working in customers homes. You will be representing the company and should at all times be clean, tidy, polite and helpful.

 BASIC DUTIES

Working with a senior fitter, be able to prepare a room for installation of carpet / floor covering. This will typically include:-

  • Assist with the clearance and removal of existing carpet, floor covering or furniture.

 

  • Installing underlay in rooms and on stairs
  • Installing Gripper fixing in rooms and on stairs

 

  • Assist with positioning / laying out of the flooring
  • Assist with the removal of surplus material / tidying the room and re-instating any furniture removed.

 

Working in the store / workshop

  • Assist with loading / unloading of carpet vans before and after each days work. When required help unload goods delivered to us.

 

  • Assist with keeping workshop / loading area clean and free from debris / sharp objects at all times.

All of the above must be carried out with due regard to relevant Health and Safety rules.
